Zahler Prenatal DHA Vitamins

This post is to discuss my experience with Zahler Prenatal DHA vitamins.

Zahler Prenatal DHA vitamins come in 60 capsules, which is a 30 day supply. They contain 25 vitamins and 300mg of DHA. They are made in the USA in a GMP and NSF certified facility. You can purchase them here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KYBTSQQ. DHA aids in vision, bone function, neural tube, immune system and mental health.

The capsules are somewhat large, so I take one then wait several minutes before taking the second one. I have had bariatric (weight loss) surgery and my specialist recommended taking prenatal vitamins daily due to vitamin deficiencies.

DHA is the primary component in fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna and mackerel. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, infants need DHA especially during the first 6 months of life for eye, brain and nervous system development. Many western diets are deficient in DHA and supplementation is recommended.

In addition to growth and development in infants, DHA has been shown to help with other conditions as well. Some of these include Rheumatoid Arthritis (inflmamation), menstrual cramps, and Raynaud Syndrome (sensitivity to cold), DHA may lower blood pressure and blood sugar, so please consult your health care provider if you have these conditions before starting a new supplement.
