It's time for Easter. For most children, this means an extended weekend. These days, kids tend to have their heads bent down staring at a screen, or glued to the television. This blog discusses some activities to do with your children to create memories while having fun.

Easter Egg Decorating

This is one of the most popular, classic activities to do for Easter. What kid doesn't like getting their hands dirty while making something? There are tons of ways to decorate eggs, from the traditional one color, to marbling, polka dots, glitter, drawing and even adding stickers. If you can think of it, you can do it!

Bubbles

Blowing bubbles is something every kid (and many adults) love to do. You can purchase bubbles at the local dollar store, or make your own with soap and water. A neat way to make huge bubbles is to: 1. pour the liquid in a dish 2. use a circle made of yarn inserted in straws to dip in the liquid. 3. slowly pick up the circle and move backwards so the air pulls the bubble through the circle as you move.

Sidewalk Chalk

We all grew up with sidewalk chalk. It's a great way to make something creative. There's no mess, since the rain washes it away. Whether it's a game of hopscotch or doodling, it is guaranteed to provide hours of fun!

Baking

Getting children in the kitchen is not only fun, but a valuable tool. Eventually they will be adults and this is a vital life skill. The sooner you can have them help out in the kitchen, the faster they'll learn. Kids love sweets, so baking is a great project. They can pour items into the mixing bowl after you measure them. Stirring is always fun for them.

As they get older, you can add more challenging tasks. Decorating is one of them. It doesn't have to look perfect, it will still taste delicious!

I found a great cake decorating set that comes with 2 silicone bags and 12 different tips in a snap shut plastic case. My 6 year old Willow had a blast decorating our cake. Sure, it isn't perfect, but I doubt I could make a perfect design either! The point is, we had fun decorating AND eating!
